Community Guidelines
Last Updated: August 28, 2026
Conviction Index exists to make disagreement useful.
Users are encouraged to take strong positions, challenge ideas, and explain why they believe what they believe.
Disagreement is welcome. Abuse is not.
1. Argue the Position, Not the Person
Challenge ideas, reasoning, evidence, and policy.
Do not:
- Harass users
- Threaten users
- Use degrading personal attacks
- Repeatedly target individuals
2. Do Not Post Private Information
Do not publish another person's:
- Home address
- Private phone number
- Personal email
- Financial information
- Confidential records
- Other sensitive private information
3. No Threats or Encouragement of Violence
Content that credibly threatens or encourages violence may be removed and accounts may be suspended.
4. No Spam or Manipulation
Do not:
- Post repetitive promotional content
- Coordinate fake accounts
- Manipulate reactions
- Attempt to create multiple votes
- Use bots or scripts to distort results
5. Stay Relevant
Arguments should relate to the debate being discussed.
Off-topic content may be removed.
6. Support Your Claims
Users are encouraged to explain their reasoning and provide credible sources for factual claims.
Disagreement with a claim is not, by itself, grounds for removal.
7. Paid Spotlight Does Not Mean Endorsement
Spotlight placement indicates that a user purchased temporary additional visibility.
It does not mean Conviction Index endorses the argument.
Community ranking remains separate from paid Spotlight placement.
8. Moderation
Conviction Index may:
- Hide content
- Remove content
- Restrict posting
- Suspend accounts
- Terminate accounts
Moderation decisions may consider context, severity, repeated violations, and risks to users or the platform.
9. Reporting
Users should be able to report content they believe violates these Community Guidelines.
Reported content may be reviewed by Conviction Index administrators.
10. Good-Faith Debate
The goal is not to eliminate disagreement.
The goal is to create a place where people can clearly see:
- What others believe
- Why they believe it
- How strongly they believe it
Strong disagreement is allowed.
Bad-faith abuse, manipulation, and harassment are not.
